Data Access Matrices

The Electricity and Gas Data Access Matrices (DAM) can be located within the Retail Energy Code (REC) Data Specification. Additionally, REC Schedule 12 - Data Access defines the obligations that relevant Market Participants must adhere to, in order to:

  • Become an Enquiry Service User;
  • Identify the Data Access Matrix which governs the data that different categories of Enquiry Service User can access; and
  • The purpose of which categories of Enquiry Service Users are authorised to use the data for;
  • The terms of use associated with Enquiry Service data;
  • Any obligations to make data available to the Enquiry Services;

As the DAM form part of the Data Specification, the Code Manager is responsible for managing updates. Additionally, the Electricity and Gas Enquiry Service Definition documents define the service which is provided, and the means in which data is made available to its users.

See also Retail Energy Data Specification for further information and guidance on the Data Specification.

Data Access Matrix

The Data Access Matrix sets out the data items that each category of Enquiry Service User can access.

For each Enquiry Service User category, the Data Access Matrix must specify:

  1. The data item(s) (if any) for which a user has access to, for all Registrable Measurement Points (RMP) contained, known as 'Community' view; and
  2. The data item(s) that each enquiry service user can access for an RMP, only if it has a specified responsibility for that RMP, known as 'Portfolio' view.

The DAM may include further conditions where applicable, such as where data is received, pursuant to accepting relevant Terms of User. These may be different between Electricity and Gas.

All data item(s) included will provide a 'YES' or 'NO' response for applicable Enquiry Service Users, except in the following instances:

Gas Enquiry Service (GES) DAM: Research Body contains input 'TBD by approved RBR", and the Authority field contains "TBC". Both are subject to case-by-case approval and therefore will only be updated as necessary.

Electricity Enquiry Service (EES) DAM: Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and Energy UK, both contain "TBC" for an array of data items, this is as a result of updates to the Electricity Enquiry Service DAM following change proposal R0022 implementation. Once a relevant confirmation has been received, the updates to these items will be made and the version iterated as necessary.

Both the EES and GES DAM files can be accessed and downloaded from within the REC Data Specification. This file is available in MS Excel format.
